I love Isiolo

This week my blog will be giving you updates on my new location; Isiolo. Contrary to popular belief there is life in this town. Weird occurrences of the day will also be shared as well. But most ideally what I want to do is share my journey of journalism with me.

Before I get into why I am here in the first place. I will start off with what I have seen. Other than the occasional dust and a random fly trying to explore my nostrils, Isiolo is a pretty impressive town. There is more Swahili around than I expected.

And of all the lovers of gout, cholesterol and heart disease aka Nyama choma and beer, you’ll never run out of red meat. Two straight meals of Beef and I think I am done.

The hotel that I am in is pretty impressive, yes we have instant showers, flushing toilets, bell boys (men). And my mentor on the trip has an amazing roof top room with an amazing view of Isiolo.

The road to Isiolo is tarmac and nice and wide. And this road beats most Nairobi roads hands down. The people are friendly and extremely helpful here.

The town has mostly Ndorobos, Boranas, Somalis, Turukanas, Samburus then you have pockets of other ethnic groups.

Meanwhile in the evening, some guy walked up to meet the team I was with. And when it got my turn to shake my hand, he just yelled so enthusiastically that I am the most beautiful woman. Shucks! Sniggle! Sniggle! Blush! Blush!

I just loooooooooooooooove Isiolo! Sniggle! Sniggle! Swoon!

  2. Facts: Isiolo was actually a British out post during 1st and 2nd world war it was also known as Somali town due to the fact that it was founded by Somalis who came as british soldiers and settled in this town.

It does Isiolo a great deal to have an eloguent writers like this blogger to spicy up our lovely town and turn the ugly constant stereotype of routine bashing this town as safe haven for banditry, social chaos, ethnic tension and many others negative views of this town.

We like to say in Isiolo "we people of Texas we will emerge as winners" I'm not sure if you are aware Isiolo is also known as Texas ask anyone from this town if you wish.

you last sentence was a killer one. I therefore now have new sniggle/swoon in my vocabulary.

  4. It had to be done I mean a good description of Isiolo even though it's coming from an outsider, but all in all it is a good work and on behalf of Isiolo people I like to say "sodowo" meaning welcome to our family- Isiolo family.

You name is missing though I see Odengo, but not sure perhaps your real name would be a good start so we can float in our town as someone who has done good for us.
