Back to Nairobi...back to Reality!

What does Blankets & Wine, Just A Band, Sauti Sol & the artist Jimnah have in common? Gutts! Being employed…yes Rose is at it again. A good friend of mine said that there is nothing more amazing to see; than people excel. Not jut excel a anything, but the dream that they took the risk to follow. The people who chose not to remain seated in an office complaining about it and their pay grade.

I think of how much courage it takes to follow your heart. Public criticism, especially in Kenya can rip you to pieces. But to keep going, to keep rehearsing, to keep painting, writing, dancing, editing; yet no one knows you or applauds. All you know is that you are good at what you do. That takes heart and courage. Because with most of these things, you might end up getting credit for your work like 15 to 50 years from now.

It is hard and almost unthinkable, but it takes heart to follow what you believe in. Believing in yourself and pushing yourself to keep doing it. The energy and discipline to shut the emotion out and follow your gutt and your mind. It really is ALL in the MIND. You NEED to have your mind in the right place. I don’t believe in motivational books, I find them annoying.

No amount of motivational books will help you, if you have a defeatist mindset!
This is my new anthem (from the Great Debaters):
“Who is the judge? The judge is God
Why is he God? Because he decides who wins or loses not my opponent
Who is your opponent? He doesn’t exist
Why doesn’t he exist? Because he is a mere dissenting voice of truth that I speak”
I recite this to myself every single day; so that the next time I chose to beat myself up or get all emotional and needy! This will be my slap of reality. GOD HAS THE LAST SAY ON MY LIFE NOT ME.
I just need to do my part with the best of my ability!
